Swing Gate Designs
Swing Gates For Driveways
If you have the space for gates to swing open into your driveway without hitting anything, maybe swing gates are for you. Swing gate designs usually include two, equal-sized gates that meet in the middle when closed. They then swing open into the driveway to a minimum of 90 degrees.
But not always.
Alternative swing gate designs include bi-fold swing gates and single swing gates. You can also have gates that open to a wider angle than 90 degrees.
Swing gates can be wooden or iron. For greater longevity, aluminium gates look like wooden gates but don’t rot.
Swing gates can be designed to have lots of gaps (open boarded) or can have no gaps at all (close boarded).
An obvious part of gate designs is the top of gate. Some are curved, some slope and some are flat and horizontal.
Then, there’s the colour. If you go for wooden gates or aluminium gates that look like wood, you have another design choice. Do you go for a more traditional gate designs and keep the wood grain finish? Or, do you try something more modern and have a solid colour applied to your swing gates?
The following gallery includes a variety of swing gate designs.

Sliding Gate Designs
How Do Sliding Gates Work?
Sliding gates are designed to slide along a track across the driveway entrance. They slide off to one side until they clear the driveway completely.
As such, sliding gate designs usually include just one gate. But you can have double sliding gates that open in the middle and slide off to each side of your driveway.
Variations of sliding gate designs include a sliding gate that looks like twin swing gates. You can have sliding gates made of two, three or more panels that concertina as they open and slide against each other. These telescopic sliding gates are designed for use where space is limited.

Designs for Pedestrian Gates
Do I Need A Pedestrian Gate?
Pedestrian gate designs usually compliment electric driveway gates.
Pedestrian gates are manual or electric and they’re much smaller than driveway gates.
They are only wide enough for you to get through on foot. Including a pedestrian gate in the design of your driveway gate designs gives you the ability to leave or enter on foot without having to open your electric gates.
